The abundant wildflowers on The Mound are thanks to The Town of Flower Mound, as well as The Mound Foundation, as they have worked tirelessly to restore the bluebonnets to the front of the Flower Mound over the past three years.

According to Tom Kirwan, of the Native Plant Society of Texas, many more wildflowers are expected to bloom on The Mound this spring.  There are over 125 species of native plants that have been identified and documented in the book, The Flower Mound, Flower Mound, Texas: A History and Field Guide to the Flowers and Grasses by Alton Bowman.  This book is available for purchase at the Circulation Desk of the Town of Flower Mound library.  All proceeds go to the Mound Foundation and their mission to protect and preserve The Flower Mound for our residents.

For additional information about native plants including those recommended for Denton County, visit the Native Plant Society of Texas web site at www.npsot.orgThe Native Plant Society of Texas is a non-profit organization run by volunteers who work to promote native plant appreciation, research, and conservation through 33 chapters located around the state.
